Sam Schabacker, Co-Founder

Sam and his wife, Stephanie, built their furniture from Colorado beetle-kill pine. When they moved back to California to be near family, Sam learned that the drought had brought about a massive beetle-kill die-off in the Sierra Nevada. As an outdoor athlete with a deep appreciation for California’s mountains and forests, he was inspired to help solve the problem.  He is thrilled that SapphirePine introduces Californians to the beauty of this pine – the way the colors and grain tell a story about drought, fires, and the Sierra that comes to life in each board and design. Sam holds an undergraduate degree in Economics, and is a Master of Public Policy Candidate at UC Berkeley. He has a decade of non-profit leadership experience, working on political campaigns.
